The first MTV Europe Music Awards were held on November 24, 1994 at Brandenburg Gate, Berlin, Germany. The MTV Europe Music Award for Best Dance was first awarded in 1994 and was given every year until 2003, and it was one of the original two genre categories that were added to the MTV Europe Music Awards that year. The big winner on this category were The Prodigy with four awards. And this was of course their first award. Jean Paul Gaultier and Naomi Campbell presented Best Dance Act award to The Prodigy.
The 1996 MTV Europe Music Awards ceremony was hosted by former Take That member Robbie Williams and held at Alexandra Palace in London, United Kingdom on 14 November 1996. The Prodigy won the Best Dance prize.
November 4th 1997 saw the eighth Q Awards ceremony. The Prodigy won the Best Live act prize.
The 1998 MTV Europe Music Awards took place in Assago, near Milan, Italy late 12 November 1998. The ceremony was hosted by former Playboy model, actress and comedian, Jenny McCarthy. Natalie Imbruglia and Gavin Rossdale, presented Best Dance award to The Prodigy.
